Area elected officials and business leaders flew up to Washington as a part of the "Spring Road Rally" to bend the ear of Congress officials and convince them to fund the Interstate 73 construction project.

Originally, I-73 was intended to link Detroit and Charleson, SC. But several revisions and 20 years later, the current proposed route would essentially creates a direct link between Myrtle Beach and I-95. As a result, the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce has made the project a top priority

Since the project spans several states, a coordinated effort has been made amongst those that would benefit from the roads completion. This week's meeting in D.C. is one of those efforts to ensure that "Phase II" gets the funding it needs to be completed.
