11-year-old charged in connection with two James Island burglaries

An 11-year-old boy has been charged with two counts of second-degree burglary for instances at a gas station and day care center on James Island.

The police report states that after breaking into the Exxon at 971 Harbor View Road, the boy stole about $100 worth of cigarettes and candy. He also caused about $8,000 in damage inside of La Petite Academy at 902 Nabors Drive.

The boy was identified through surveillance video from the Harbor View Road burglary.
