On Monday morning, Charleston police caught up with a suspect accused of stealing a car from a woman stopped at the Texaco gas station at 522 East Bay Street. The woman's child was still inside of the car.
The 22-year-old mother described the carjacker as the "neighborhood drunk" and said as he drove off, he nearly crashed multiple times.
Police tracked down the stolen Buick soon after the incident report and removed the child from the car, no harm done. As police questioned the suspect, the child's mother and a friend arrived at the scene and attempted to assault the suspect.
Luckily, everyone got away from the situation shaken up, but unharmed.
The Post and Courier has the wild and wooly story.
