James Island residents are on high alert as a rash of robberies has shaken the normally quiet community.
Police have recorded six robberies in the past three weeks. In most cases, the robbers have gotten into houses by kicking in the back door, and on more than one occasion, in broad daylight.
On the upside, police have developed some leads thanks to information from a witness who caught the license plate number of a blue Oldsmobile leaving the scene of a Thursday burglary. The plate has been linked to Sean Montez Major, and authorities are currently investigating his whereabouts. A blue Oldsmobile has been linked to another robbery, but until Major can be found, no assumptions can be made.
Police are urging James Island residents to report suspicious activity by calling the Charleston County Sheriff's Office at (843) 202-1700 or the Charleston Police Department at (843) 577-7434.
