Update September 30:
The 22-year-old College of Charleston student who assisted in rescuing four occupants from a house fire on Sunday may soon be featured on CBS's "Early Show."
According to The Post and Courier, Matthew Stergar got the call from the show's reps this morning saying they were considering flying him to New York to be on the show.
Officials have declared that a fire that broke out early Sunday morning at 258 Saint Philip Street is similar to more than 50 other arson cases that have been reported since 2003.
Either a love seat or chair left out on the second floor porch was set on, but luckily, all four residents living in the home got out unharmed. The downstairs couple, a 78-year-old man and his 77-year-old wife were carried out by a former firefighter who lives near the scene and saw the flames.
Live 5 News has passed along the message from authorities asking anyone who lives in the area of the fires to keep outside porch lights turned on, to remove anything from the porch that can be used to fuel a fire and to report any suspicious activity to police immediately.
