More folks taking the Charleston Amtrak train

The number of passengers taking Amtrak is continuing to grow across the nation, but the local numbers are also on the up and up.

The Post and Courier writes that some 84,000 took a train from North Charleston, that's up from 50,000 in 1997 — that's an increase of 68%, and bigger than the national increase of 55%.

Those numbers could stand to grow more as an integrated bus-taxi-train station is due to be built in North Charleston.
