No need to wait until June: Getting rid of that Christmas tree is easier than you think

Christmas has come, and if you bought a chopped-down tree you're likely itching to ditch it.
Charleston County residents who live within a municipality can recycle their trees by leaving them curb-side for yard waste pick-up and they will be composted (remember to remove all tinsel and ornaments.) If you don't have that convenience you can also take them to an area convenience center.
The trees picked up curbside are transported to the Bees Ferry Landfill to be ground and composted. Residents who drop off a tree at the Bees Ferry Landfill (at 1344 Bee's Ferry Road in West Ashley) from January 2-9 will receive a free bag of compost.
