Details beginning to emerge for schools to replace Charleston seismically endangered ones

After condemning several historic downtown elementary schools last year over earthquake concerns, the Charleston County School District is working towards the future and sketches for the new schools are emerging from the drawing boards.

The Charleston City Paper's Greg Hambrick recently got debriefed on the latest progress (along with getting a few rough sketches) and has some details on where things stand process wise and politically and what new upgrades students might see come 2013; take a read here.

Also of note is that the school district maintains an infrequently updated "Relocate, Rebuild, Return: Seismic Process" page.
