Sanford signs consent order to pay $74K in fines

On Thursday afternoon, South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford announced that he has agreed to pay back a grand total of $74,000 in fines stemming from the ethics violations he racked up while in office.

Sanford was slapped with 37 charges for violating a state law requiring lowest-cost travel and improperly reimbursing himself with campaign cash among other things. Sanford has yet to admit to violating any ethics laws, but by the looks of the amount of cash he's about to cough up, he's not denying it either.

Oh, and to top off Sanford's Thursday, his divorce from his wife Jenny was finalized in a Charleston courthouse.

The Post and Courier has the story.
