South Carolina's Latino community has been gathering to discuss a strategy for pushing the immigration reform issue back into the national conversation.

In 2008, South Carolina's General Assembly crafted an immigration law to crack down on businesses that hire undocumented workers with the intent to drive illegal immigrants out of the state by taking away their job opportunities.

Unhappy with the law, Latinos in South Carolina have been enthusiastically attending events and educational meetings designed focused on forcing the federal government to create a way for illegal immigrants to become documented and stay in the United States.

The State has an in-depth article on the issue that is well worth the read.
