Long-vacant West Ashley Wal-Mart could become senior center

Image by Brave New Films via Wikimedia Commons This is a different vacant Wal-Mart.

A new West Ashley community group is banding together to transform the eyesore that is the ex-Wal-Mart on Glen McConnell Parkway into something useful, namely a senior center.

West Ashley Senior Service Coordinating Committee, or the WASSCC for short(ish), touts the locations proximity to retirement homes, Roper St. Francis Hospital, and the Jewish Community Center as great reasons for putting a senior center in the space.

Check out WestOf's write-up on their website's front page.

If you're unsure of the location, here's some Google mappage of the adjacent Food Lion.
