Eddie Driggers selected as new North Charleston police chief

Mayor Keith Summey announced that retired Charleston County Sheriff's deputy Eddie Driggers has been hired to replace Chief Jon Zumalt as North Charleston's new Chief of Police.

Zumalt will be stepping down from his post on January 31.

58-year-old Driggers has 31 years of experience with the Charleston County Sheriff's Office. According to WCBD News 2, he also has "an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice and received training in hostage negotiations, peer counseling and holds certification as an instructor in Pastoral Crisis Intervention."
