Early this morning, two fires broke out in the area: one in Moncks Corner, and one in James Island.

At about 5:40 a.m., Moncks Corner Rural and Whitesville firefighters responded to a call regarding a fire at a home on Mattie Lane. Unfortuantely, the family's dog died during the fire, and the house is a complete loss.

Just a few hours earlier, at about 1:13 a.m., James Island, Charleston, and St. Andrews firefighters responded to a house fire at 1732 James Prioleau Road. The fire was brought under control in about an hour.

The Post and Courier has a few more details in their brief; read it here. Also, check out photos of the Moncks Corner fire over at Live5News.com and video of the James Island fire over at WCBD-TV 2.
