Bill Collins elected as new mayor of Summerville

Update May 11: By capturing 52% of yesterday's votes, retired publisher Bill Collins has been elected as Summerville's first new mayor in 45 years.

First reporting: Summerville residents head to the polls today to elect a replacement for 94-year-old Mayor Berlin Myers, who has decided to step down after 45 years of service.
Running in today's election are Bill Collins, Bill Lomax, and Dickie Miler.
Polls are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Below is a list of the district's polling stations:
- District 1: Fire Station 1, 300 W. 2nd North Street
- Districts 2 and 3: Cuthbert Community Center, 105 W. 5th South Street
- District 4: Cornerstone Baptist Church, 888 Central Avenue
- District 5: Fire Station 2, 110 Luden Drive
- District 6: Fire Station 3, 1701 Trolley Road
