Whether or not opponents will be successful in impeaching Governor Mark Sanford is anyone's guess, but the battle has been gaining furor throughout the day. 

Read more stories on this subject in our Mark Sanford topic page.The day started off with reports that Sanford was promising to make life hard for his opponents, then word came that a judicial hearing was to be held at 1 p.m. after the State Ethics Commission said Sanford's action warranted further examination.

And now the heat is officially on Sanford after the detail that Sanford faces 37 ethics charges made it out.
