The most recent South Carolina budget plan would give the state's Education Department over $12 million for much-needed replacement school buses.

Legislators haven't designated money for school buses since the budget in 2007-08.

With the $12.4 million from the budget, the state could purchase approximately 140 buses for students with special needs.
