If you could bring your dream home to reality and place it in the middle of paradise - it would probably look a little something like this LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Platinum home nestled gracefully amid the marshland of Kiawah Island's Indigo Park community. Sustainable developer Dyal Compass, LLC along with architect Christopher Rose and Royal Indigo Construction brought an unmistakeable "Lowcountry zen" aura to this Dream Home that HGTV unveiled today to local media and opened up for virtual exploration online.
This is the 17th year that HGTV has given away a Dream Home. Last year, the network received more than 81 million entries in what became the biggest TV giveaway ever. Starting today, viewers can take a virtual glimpse inside the custom-built, 3,000-square foot home which will be open for entries from Friday, Dec. 28, 2012 at 9 a.m. ET, running through Feb. 15, 2013 at 5 p.m. ET.
Indigo Park is Kiawah Island's first sustainable neighborhood, and this home is HGTV's first LEED certified Dream Home to be given away. The home has been certified LEED Platinum by the U.S. Green Building Council, incorporating the latest green building design and technology to reach the highest level of energy and water efficiency, indoor environmental quality and sustainabiltiy. With bountiful views of Kiawah Island's surrounding marshlands, the home will be part of Indigo Park's collection of 16 green-conscious homes located just inside the island's second gate.
