 WHAT:            Roper St. Francis Healthcare (RSFH) and Charleston County School District (CCSD) will host a live, primetime special on ABC News 4, WCIV, focusing on sports injury prevention and education. The broadcast will include a call-in phone panel and interviews with sports medicine experts.

Lowcountry parents, coaches and students are encouraged to call during the show with questions about sports-related injuries and to stay tuned throughout the event for tips on keeping student athletes safe.

 WHO:              Dave Spurlock (Athletic director for CCSD); Danielle Greenman (RSFH athletic trainer coordinator); and Roper St. Francis Healthcare physicians will be available to provide tips and answer questions for safe sports play.

BACKGROUND: Though the collaborative effort between Charleston County School District and Roper St. Francis Healthcare, seven certified athletic trainers funded and staffed by Roper St. Francis Healthcare and employed with the Roper St. Francis Sports Medicine Program will work directly with student athletes and athletic teams at nine high schools.
