North Charleston Presents Dinner Theatre featuring Storyteller Tim Lowry on November 9

Another fabulous season of dinner theatre continues in North Charleston on Friday, November 9, with When the Frost is On the Pumpkin, presented by Storyteller Tim Lowry. Dinner for the evening is catered by Embassy Suites and features an entrée of boneless pork chop with soy, maple, and red chili marinade and sweet charred corn relish.

Setting the stage for autumn, When the Frost is On the Pumpkin is the second performance of the 2012-13 North Charleston Dinner Theatre series. Award-winning Storyteller Tim Lowry’s original presentation will surely inspire guests to embrace the spirit of the season. Always on the lookout for a story that is “ripe for the telling,” Lowry brings a collection of tales harvested from America’s fields, farms, and firesides.  From his cornucopia tumble tales of quick running squash and mule eggs, harvest hymns, recipes for mince meat pie, reminiscences of family holiday gatherings, a bittersweet story of love’s labor lost, and of course-- boogers, witches, and haints!

Tim Lowry has been telling stories of the People, by the People, and for the People for over twenty years. He grew up in southeastern Kentucky where he learned the art of storytelling from Appalachian folk who spun yarns and told tales to entertain, teach morals, and pass along local history. After touring the East Coast with a drama school from Greenville, SC, in 1987 and earning a degree in Theater, Tim began traveling as a professional performer. With his repertoire of stories from American history, folk tales from around the world, narratives of personal experiences, and other original works, he has presented over 5,000 educational programs for schools across the country. He has also entertained audiences of all ages at numerous festivals, including Piccolo Spoleto Festival, South Carolina Storyfest, the North Carolina Storytelling Festival, Patchwork Storytelling Festival, and the Connecticut Storytelling Festival. In addition, Tim has made several television appearances, recorded a number of storytelling CDs, filmed a DVD, and written a storytelling handbook. He is a member of the National and South Carolina Storytelling Networks and is on the South Carolina Arts Commission’s roster of approved artists.
