The Ponds in Summerville Adds Active Adult Living Community With 56 Homesites

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. – A new active adult living community at The Ponds, a 1,950-acre master-planned community in Summerville, will add 56 new homesites on the north side of the development. Nine of the sites are already sold.

Named Carillon at The Ponds, residents will have access to all of The Ponds amenities, including its ponds and trails, the YMCA, the historic farmhouse and the new treehouse. Carillon, which will be a gated community, will also have its own outdoor pavilion and park with most of the homesites sitting along open green space.

Carillon offers nine home plans from builder D.R. Horton, ranging in size from 1460 to 2991 square feet. There are both single-story or multi-story plans, which vary from three to five bedrooms. Pricing starts at $263,900. Carillon is designed for active adults with at least one resident per dwelling 55 years of age or older. Additional restrictions may apply; please see a DR Horton agent for details.

Homeowners at Carillon will pay an additional homeowner’s association fee to cover the cost of mowing yards and maintenance of the community’s common areas.

“With the number of retirees growing rapidly in South Carolina and that number projected to nearly double by 2030, we think this is an ideal market for our beautiful Lowcountry community,” says John W. Morgan, The Ponds community manager for Greenwood Communities and Resorts. “With all the amazing amenities we offer at The Ponds and the variety of outdoor activities available, we think this is the perfect spot for older adults looking for an active style of living.”

Sales at The Ponds are up overall, hitting a record for December and January for contracts written, and developers expect that trend to continue with the addition of Carillon at The Ponds.
