The College of Charleston Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) will host its second annual talent show to raise money for We Are Family, a local organization that provides support for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex (GLBTQQI), and straight ally youth. The young members of We Are Family will perform poetry, drag, comedy, music, and much more. In light of the recent media attention around the negative effects of anti-gay bullying, event organizers aim to give voice and hope to GLBTQQI youth in the area. Admission is $5.00 at the door, and it will include food and refreshments during intermission. All proceeds will go to support We Are Family. Members of Charleston Pride will also raffle two Prince concert tickets to benefit Annie Sheehan.

“Raising money for We Are Family is incredibly important because GLBTQQI youth have nowhere else specifically to go in the Lowcountry.  We Are Family provides the kind of care that is crucial to youth who find little support elsewhere.” –Becca Schillizzi, College of Charleston GSA President

“The young people involved in our programs have so many wonderful talents to share. We hope the Charleston community joins us in celebrating the many gifts this diverse group brings to the Lowcountry.” –Melissa Moore, We Are Family Program Director

Where: Physician’s Auditorium, 66 George Street, Charleston, SC

When: Thursday, March 24 2011 starting at 7:00 p.m.
