The 19th century wood-frame, ivy riddled house that stood at 194 Spring Street on the Crosstown Expressway was demolished yesterday after two decades of vacancy and neglect.

The City of Charleston usually rules against demolition with an iron first, but this old house was well past the point of salvaging. The house was ultimately allowed to be demolished due to safety concerns.

The property owner is now considering his next move, which will either be to sell the property or to sign a ground lease to a developer.
