Battery sign Jamaicans Kelly, Taylor for upcoming season

The Charleston Battery have signed Jamaican forward Dane Kelly and midfielder Evan Taylor for the upcoming USL PRO season.

Kelly joins the Battery from JPL-side Tivoli Gardens while Taylor arrives from the JPL’s Reno F.C.

Dane Kelly played in the Wednesday Carolina Challenge Cup match versus Major League Soccer’s Toronto FC, scoring the Battery’s first goal and drawing the penalty that led to the winning goal. Kelly came off the bench on Saturday night in the 0-0 tie against the Chicago Fire.

Kelly, 5'11", 150 lbs., 20 yrs., is a native of St. Catherine, Jamaica, and led the U21 JPL league in scoring this past season with 15 goals.

Central-midfielder Evan Taylor also played in the matches versus Toronto FC and the Chicago Fire. A native of Savanna-la-Mar, Jamaica, Taylor 6'0", 160 lbs., 22 yrs., has earned ten caps for the Jamaican national team including World Cup qualifiers versus Mexico, Canada, and the Bahamas.
