Showing off their newly renovated stadium, The Citadel blazed to a 54-7 win against Webber International before a crowd of 11,247.

Citadel Head Coach Kevin Higgins had this to say about the game:
“It was a great first game for us. We really had an opportunity to work up some schemes that we can use for the next opponents that we play. We still have a lot of work to do. We have to find some more guys inside and we have to continue to get more confident.

This is how I would have wanted the first game to turn out. It’s a very hard game to prepare for. Our guys played well, they executed and played with emotion, all that is important. Of course our guys know what’s in store for next week. Clemson is not the same team as Webber.”
