Arrowhead and Myrtle Beach National West jump up in Myrtle Beach Golf Insider Top 25 rankings for June while Caledonia remains in the top spot.
Arrowhead Country Club and Myrtle Beach National West made significant jumps in the monthly rankings for Myrtle Beach Golf Insider, but the top seven courses remained unchanged in the June 2012 online edition. The Top 25 was reported by www.mbgolfinsider.com this week, based on more than 1,100 independent post-play reviews for the previous month from visiting golfers.
Golfers are asked to use a 10-point scale to relay their experience in six categories: pro shop, grill, staff, fairways, tees and greens. The total number of reviews for each course breaks ties. Golf Insider is a monthly publication from National Golf Management, which manages 22 golf courses along the Grand Strand.
Arrowhead, the 27-hole collaboration of Raymond Floyd and Tom Jackson in the central Myrtle Beach area, jumped five places from last month to make its highest appearance in the rankings since the Golf Insider Top 25 debuted in June 2010. One of the glowing reviews stated, “we were very impressed… and the course was in great shape.”
“We over-seeded wall to wall with rye grass in the fall and the grass just took off for us this spring,” said Eddie Dennis, head golf professional at Arrowhead since 1994. “The golfers coming down here from the north in the spring want to see the green grass (that comes from over-seeding in the fall). And our greens are perfect right now.”
The unbiased reviews are available to golfers before booking their tee times. The Myrtle Beach Golf Insider Top 25 represents a broad consensus of opinion based on thousands of golfer reviews. More than 14,000 independent reviews have been recorded since 2010, according to Jim Maggio, Golf Insider editor.
“Through many Web sites, golfers are seeing much more than price points and special offers,” Maggio said. “The online booking engines also bring these reviews front and center as part of the decision-making process. It has driven the growth of Golf Insider and its impact on the Myrtle Beach golf market.”
