The United States Tennis Association announced today that the City of Charleston Department of Recreation’s Tennis Division has been awarded a Program/Project Support Grant.

The grant, in the amount of $5,000, is one of 38 grants awarded by the USTA designed to support community based organizations who are seeking funding to support their general tennis programming, project and equipment needs.

The City of Charleston will use the money to introduce the QuickStart Program to children on neighborhood playgrounds and tennis facilities. After the initial lessons, the children will be organized into teams to further develop their skills in a Junior Team Tennis format.
