A 14-year-old Columbia kid is the nation's new Sudoku champ for the 13- to 14-year-old division.

The State writes:
Eyes locked to the puzzle, he notices number patterns the casual player might not pick up on, which allows him to complete even the most complicated puzzles quickly.

“I try to look over the whole puzzle and anticipate what numbers might go where,” he said. “Looking ahead lets me get through them quickly.”

Davis Borucki won the the 13- to 14-year-old division of the 2008 Philadelphia Inquirer Sudoku National Championship.
