State executes David Hill

A man convicted of killing three Department of Social Services office in 1996 was executed by the state. David Mark Hill, 48, was pronounced dead at 6:17 p.m. in the state’s death chamber in Columbia.

Witnesses for the defense had testified that Hill had gone on a North Augusta shooting spree after his wife asked for a divorce and a social worker accused him of molesting his quadriplegic daughter.

Hill had been convicted for the deaths of Jimmy Riddle, Josie Curry and Michael Gregory. Hill was the 279th person put to death in South Carolina.
