A rash of 12 house fires and nine garbage fires has police concerned that someone is setting them intentionally.

The focus on the Crosstown area near Coming Street has prompted police to ask that people watch for suspicious behavior and leave their porch lights on. If you do spot any suspicious behavior, it is asked that you call Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.

Most of the fires have started at vacant homes.

The latest fire was set Friday around 2 a.m. at a house on Sumter Street.
