S.C. could get $3.2 billion in federal stimulus package

The State reports:
South Carolina would receive almost $3.2 billion in one-time federal funds under new economic-stimulus figures released Friday by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi -- including a $905 million payment to wipe out the state budget deficit.

To wipe out the state's deficit would likely reinstate a number of wasteful programs, but would provide a massive benefit to the thousands upon thousands of state-connected jobs either impacted or lost do to state cutbacks.

It was not clear if the $3.2 billion number includes any of Charleston's billion-dollar wish list.
