Late-night Myrtle Beach fire kills one

Dozens of emergency responders and fire fighters responded to a condo fire on 604 36th Ave. N. in Myrtle Beach around 10:30 p.m. Thursday night where one person died, officials say.

Fire trucks and ambulances lined 36th Avenue North after a four-unit apartment complex caught fire, excessively damaging one unit, said Myrtle Beach Fire Assistant Chief Mike Norket.

Norket confirmed the fire killed one person, but he could not identify the victim. He said the fire was contained to just one apartment, but the other three units were evacuated.

Investigators were on scene Thursday night.
