Myrtle Beach man faces assault charge for pulling gun over vehicle being towed

A Myrtle Beach man was charged with assault/aggravated assault for allegedly pulling a pistol in response to his car being towed.

Phillip James Gizzi, 37, of Myrtle Beach, was arrested by Myrtle Beach Police officers when he pulled a handgun during a repossession/towing of his vehicle, according to a police report.

The victim said that they had already hooked up the vehicle when Gizzi told them he had fixed the problem that would result in towing. The tow truck operator said they had received no such instructions and continued with their jobs.

The report states that Gizzi asked to receive personal items from the vehicle, but was denied because the victim believed he just wanted to drive away in the vehicle. Witnesses and the victim said that Gizzi tried to force his way into the vehicle, and eventually pulled a handgun and pointed it at the victim.
