Construction on Ocean Boulevard and the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk and Promenade wraps up for the season this week as the bigger tourist crowds begin to come to town.

Ocean Boulevard is undergoing a three-winter project for streetscape improvements from Second Avenue North to Ninth Avenue North, which includes burying utility lines, and putting in new water and sewer lines, sidewalks, pavement and landscaping. Crews do the work during the winter then clear out for the busy tourist season.

“Ideally [work will be done] by Easter,” city spokesman Mark Kruea said.
