Outdoor concert, movie series cue up for summer

Never mind that many birds haven’t finished raising their first broods from spring, for outdoor concert and movie series already are blooming for the summer.

Various cities, towns, groups and establishments have concerts or movies, and some have both.

“Surfside Sunday Serenades” kick off this season for a seventh year of music every Sunday afternoon in the gazebo in Surfside Beach’s Passive Park, at Surfside and Willow drives, and for the first time, they will go an extra month, through September.

The city of North Myrtle Beach continues juggling three series: two with concerts — weekly on Main Street and monthly at the sports complex amphitheater — and a movie just about every month at McLean Park.

The Boathouse Waterway Bar & Grill, overlooking the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway, just west of Myrtle Beach, has brought back its Friday and Sunday concert series. Fans of Lee Brice, a multiaward-winning country singer-songwriter from Sumter, might want to take note that his younger brother, Lewis Brice, will perform Aug. 28.
