Seven Myrtle Beach-area high school soccer teams ranked in preseason polls

Most of the area’s usual suspects are ranked in the South Carolina High School Soccer Coaches Association preseason polls.

On the boys side, four area teams were again part of the poll.

Socastee, playing back in Class AAAA for the first time in more than a decade, came in at No. 15 in the state’s largest class. Myrtle Beach is No. 3 and St. James is No. 12 in Class AAA. Waccamaw is No. 4 in Class AA.

Grand Strand girls programs St. James, Myrtle Beach and Waccamaw were also ranked. The Sharks and Seahawks are Nos. 5 and 6, respectively, in Class AAA, while the Warriors are No. 4 in Class AA.

South Carolina High School League teams can begin their regular seasons March 2.
