Waccamaw Riverkeeper stepping down
The Waccamaw River is getting a new advocate.
After 14 months on the job, Paula Reidhaar said this week that she is stepping down as Waccamaw Riverkeeper.
Reidhaar said she has taken an environmental education position in Jacksonville, N.C., to be closer to her fiancee. Her last day will be May 22.
“It’s bittersweet,” she said. “I’ve definitely enjoyed this position a lot and a lot of the people, but unfortunately the location is not ideal.”
The Waccamaw Riverkeeper is a full-time paid advocate for the Waccamaw River and adjacent land in the Winyah Bay watershed, which covers northeast South Carolina and southeast North Carolina.
