Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina awards $121,000 to

Collaboration for Ministry Initiative Grantees

 

(COLUMBIA, S.C., August 27, 2013) – The Sisters of Charity Foundation awards $121,000 to support 10 Women Religious grantees.

Since its inception, the Foundation, a ministry of the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine, has exhibited an interest in supporting women religious (Catholic nuns) in their efforts with the poor and underserved members of society. The Foundation has designated specific grant funds to support women religious and their ministries. CMI Strengthening Ministry grants are designed to specifically strengthen the ministries of women religious whose ministries have a range of needs.

The Sisters of Charity Foundation is pleased to announce the following C.M.I. grants in Charleston County, SC.

  • Our Lady of Mercy Community Outreach Services, Inc. – ($20,000) for an after school program assisting low income children with homework and basic academic skills.
  • Our Lady of Mercy Neighborhood House– ($6,000) A weekday lunch program and food pantry for the poorest of the poor in urban Charleston.
