After several years of debate, Charleston's Board of Architectural Review approved a plan for an 8-story hotel near Marion Square at the old Charleston library, and another hotel at 239 Meeting Street.

The Post and Courier reports that plans for a new 41-room, 27,000-square-foot hotel called The Spectator are in the works for downtown Charleston. The Spectator would be located at 71 State Street.
