Tickets are available now for the 8th annual Beaufort International Film Festival scheduled February 12 - 16. Purchase tickets online at www.beaufortfilmfestival.com or at the Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce Visitors Center, 713 Craven St., Beaufort or at theBeaufort Film Society office located at 708 Carteret St., Beaufort, SC.  The full schedule of events and screening times are also located on the filmfestival website. Ron Tucker, President of the Beaufort Film Society, said nearly 8,000 people participated in last year's festival and he expects as many this year. "We will present twenty eight screenings to include feature films, shorts, documentaries, animated films and student productions. In addition, the popular Screenwriter's Workshop returns which will include a live script reading of selected parts of the screenplay's from this year's Finalists. The South Carolina Indie Grants Films will also present some of the newest work from state filmmakers on Saturday, February 15th   .  This year also marks the 20th anniversary of the release of the filmForrest Gump. We have many special events planned to pay tribute to thefilm to include a special screening of the film on Friday evening, February 14th, at 7:00 pm."  

Two time Academy Award winning Film Editor, Arthur Schmidt will accept the Jean Ribaut Award for Excellence in Film Editing. He won Oscars for Forrest Gump and Who Framed Roger Rabbit.  The inaugural "Behind the Scenes" award will be presented to Scenic Designer James Passanante for his work on over 100 films. 

The Opening Night Reception takes place on Wednesday, February 12 at Old Bay Marketplace in Beaufort.  The Awards Ceremony is Saturday, February 15 at the University of South Carolina, Center for the Arts. See the website for details.
