Plenty for the public to do at Parris Island

Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island isn't just about training Marines--there's actually quite a bit for the regular Joe Schmoe to enjoy.

Here are just a few of the events and attractions that make Parris Island one of the world's most visited military institutions:

  • The Legends golf course, which winds through the scenic Lowcountry
  • The Traditions Restaurant, which is located in a building that dates back to the early 20th century
  • The Parris Island Museum, which is free to the public and features exhibitions focusing on American Indians, the first colony of the French, the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, and the start of Parris Island's connection with the Marines
  • The Iron Mike Bike Tour, offered by the Parris Island Historical and Museum Society

And that's just the beginning of what's going on at Parris Island. So jump in the car and head on over--just don't forget your proof of insurance, vehicle registration, and driver's license.
