Boy and Beaufort Mayor Keyserling releasing book 'The Pink Dolphin'

8-year-old Thomas McDermott-Post teamed up with Beaufort Mayor Billy Keyserling and illustrator Bill Dula to come up with the story of "The Pink Dolphin," being released at ARTworks on Saturday, October 23.

The 28-page full-color book tells the story of a "very special pod of dolphins, all colors of the rainbow, inhabit the
waters surrounding a beautiful, historic town. But it is the Pink
dolphin that holds a special place in the hearts of the local shrimpers" that tries to bring a community together.

Images from the book are below.

McDermott-Post lived in Beaufort until four months ago (now he's in Asheville, N.C.) and the book jacket calls McDermott-Post and
Keyserling "good friends."

The release event runs from 2 to 4 p.m. at ARTworks at 2127 Boundary Street.

The book is $15. The Asheville Citizen-Times has a bit more on the back story.

Update: Earlier I incorrectly inferred the kid had done the illustrations, sorry for the error.
