Wren is bringing in two groups of well known Lowcountry storytellers for a classic dinner of our region along with a good bit of lore.

On Wednesday, September 22, the Lowcountry Storytellers and Backporch Storytellers of Charleston will be at the restaurant sharing their oral literature about their lives, Gullah culture, the South, and the Lowcountry.

Offered for dinner is a selection of fried chicken or fish, dirty rice, green beans, cornbread, and desert. Yes, quite classic Lowcountry.

The event runs from 6 to 8 p.m. and costs $30. Make reservations by calling (843) 524-9463.

Wren is at 210 Carteret Street in downtown Beaufort.

The Backporch Storytellers of Charleston were organized in 1987 under the leadership of the late “Tita” Heins and Michael Leonard, formerly with the Charleston County Library. The group began meeting on the back porch of Mrs. Heins’ home, thus deriving the name.
