Annual Beaufort MLK Day Parade is Monday (Update: Photos, coverage)

Update January 17: If you weren't able to make it out, a bit of coverage is out there.

The Island Packet has a short report summing up the vibe around the county (read that here) and Captured Moments Photography has a slew of photos from the parade (page 1, page 2, page 3).

First reporting: On Monday, January 16, the annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. will run through downtown Beaufort with a following keynote address by Beaufort County Board of Education Chairman Fred Washington, Jr.

The parade is set to begin at 10 a.m. and follow the standard route from the corner of Boundary and Rodgers streets, down Carteret and Bay streets and back up Bladen Street.

The speech is set to start at 11:30 a.m. at the University of South Carolina Beaufort Performing Arts Center and lasting for one hour.

There is also an MLK Banquet on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Beaufort High School.
