Whether you're marking the start of 2012 with a sense of happy nostalgia for 2011 or a welcome end to your previous misfortunes, we've compiled a list of a few events in the area to ensure that all can enjoy the first moments of the new year in considerable style.
The crowning event of tonight is the end of the Beaufort Tricentennial at the waterfront park. It will kick off 4:30 p.m. and have live music and will be followed by fireworks at 6 p.m.; loads more details on the event here.

Dinners
Saltus is offering up a prix fixe dinner with DJ Mix Master Milner spinning at 10 p.m.; more details here.
Panini's Cafe has a New Year's Eve dinner : "Appetizer: Apple-bacon-spinach baked Lady's Island Oyster Farm select Oysters, or our fresh Caesar salad. Entrees: Prosciutto-wrapped local Red Grouper Filet w/ herb & citrus crab salad, or Petit Filet w/ choice of bacon bleu cheese butter or a balsamic & red wine demi, and served w/ pan-roasted potatoes & glazed rainbow carrots." Plum's has New Year's Eve specials followed by live music from the Broke Locals: "Lobster Ravioli, Vodka,Tomato Cream Sauce, or Pan Seared Mahi, mustard, tarragon butter sauce, rich duchess potatoes, sautéed squash zucchini, or Smoked Prime Rib, red wine demi-glaze, roasted potatoes, creamed collards." Emily's: Chef Mike Long has a New Year's Eve menu: "Prime Rib for Two...two 10 oz Prime Rib, truffle cream mashed potatoes, asparagus, and your choice of two soups or house salads;Duck Confit Duet...Thigh Confit & pan seared breast w/ orange and Meyer lemon reduction, served with asparagus and wild rice; Shrimp, Lobster, & Clams in a sweet tomato-basil cream, served over penne pasta." New Year's Day
