Getting ready to get (kinda) cold: The Hunting Island polar bear plunge is coming back

The fifth annualĀ Pelican Plunge is slated for New Year's Day.
The event will take place at noon at Hunting Island's Lighthouse (North) Beach on January 1, 2013, when the average water temperature is a not-so-chilly 54 degrees.
You can check out a video of last year's fun up top and see some photos below.
The event raises money forĀ educational programs like the "Discover Carolina" State Park programs. Last year $4,200 was raised.
