If you're planning on bringing a card to Beaufort's 300th birthday party on Monday, why not stick a $300 check in it?

Tricentennial organizers are working to raise money to help pay for a permanent memorial that will mark Beaufort's first 300 years.

According to the city of Beaufort's website the goal is "for 300 people to contribute $300 toward Beaufort’s 300th birthday. Corporate sponsorships also are available at $500, $1,000 and greater. All funds will be used for the Tricentennial monument and festivities related to the yearlong celebration."

Donors who give to the campaign will have their names included on the monument.

But even if you can't afford to give to the monument fundraiser you still should head down to Waterfront Park for Monday's birthday celebration. It begins at 4:30 p.m. and there will be cake.

Check the city's website or the Beaufort Tricentennial Facebook page for more details.
