Port Royal Octoberfest now dubbed the Festival of the Sea

If you're looking for the annual Octoberfest sign to pop up at the top of Paris Avenue don't hold your breath, it's not going to be there.

Instead, the Port Royal Old Village Association has decided to rename the event, slated for Oct. 16 in downtown Port Royal, and this year will call it the Festival of the Sea. The event will be from noon to 5 p.m.

You can go to the Old Village Association website to see the event poster, surfboard and all, or head on over to The Island Packet for a writeup of the name change.

The Island Packet gives a good rundown of why the group decided to change the name of the event, but I gotta say I don't get it. Though the October-staple never really differed too much from the other Port Royal festivals, I just don't get surfboards and beach to promote an October event.
