900 miles from home, Charleston's Van Liew leads world sailing competition
Flikr user BasL
Charleston's own Brad Van Liew is in the lead in a single-man sailing race around the world.
Brad and three other competitors have been sailing from Punta del Este URU to Charleston, South Carolina, for 22 days. Van Liew is currently in the lead, with his closest competitor trailing behind him 200 miles. But with the recent weather conditions, will this lead be enough for Brad to take the race?
The Post and Courier has a great write-up featuring tales of a ripped sail, set backs, and weather fears.
