Bon Appetite names Charleston spot as 'America's Best New Restaurant'

Bon Appetite

Bon Appetite magazine has dubbed Husk, located right over the way in downtown Charleston, as the “Best New Restaurant in America.”

Husk's chef Sean Brock is no stranger to national recognition for his culinary prowess. Brock, who won the 2010 Best Chef Southeast James Beard award, has been at Husk since it's opening in November of 2010. Before Husk, Brock was making mouths water as Executive Chef at McCrady's.

At Husk, Brock and and Chef de Cuisine Travis Grimes highlight, embrace and push the boundaries of farm-to-table dining. Inspired by Southern food and solely Southern ingredients, the constantly changing menu at Husk was what wowed Andrew Knowlton, Bon Appetite's Restaurant and Drinks Editor.

The September issue featuring Husk hits shelves today. However, the "Best News Restaurants In America" list is also online; check it out.

A shame it's not in downtown Beaufort so we can't get to it by walking down the street, but it's certainly one to add to your plans on the next road trip.
