Have you been by Shoofly lately?

It's been nearly two years since we've written about the breakfast/lunch/catering spot Shoofly Kitchen in Uptown, but a recent e-mail blast caught my eye.

It seems the owners have struck up a taste for the hearty grain quinoa in salads, high in fiber and protein the grain-like item is has a texture akin to a hearty couscous.

They're also into pumpkins at the moment — check out the e-blast below and, if it strikes you, drop by 1209 Boundary Street between 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and starting at 8 on Saturdays and 9:30 on Sundays.

For some reason I can't seem to get away from pumpkin right now! It must be all those beautiful fresh pumpkins we see everywhere this time of the year! Needless to say, we have baked more Pumpkin Cupcakes and they are really really good. We will be doing more with pumpkin and apples too in the next few weeks. We also are making a different quinoa salad each week. I have just learned how delightful quinoa is in salads so you will be seeing quinoa as a special each week for awhile. Let us know which salad you enjoy the best!

Don't forget that we have muffins and cinnamon rolls each day and your favorites Strawberry Cupcakes and Mint Brownies. We also have Apricot Braids (buttery phyllo dough covering a lemon filling baked golden brown and covered with Apricot Preserves!

Shoofly will be celebrating Halloween this Saturday! Kid's Free Pancakes and treats, it's not a trick, so parents bring your children to breakfast Saturday between 8:00 am - Noon!

Be sure to check out our daily specials on Facebook!
